The tourist region of Jardines
del Rey extends to the north of the Ciego de Avila province
and is part of the Sabana-Camagüey archipelago, the largest
of the four that surround the island of Cuba, with more than
2,500 cays and islets.
For the nature lovers, it is an ideal place where the greenery
of mangroves, the intense blue of the ocean, the majestic
flamencos and its sub-aquatic universe can be admired. The
coral barrier extends for more than 32 km, most of its depth
greater than 10 meters forming the so-called "ribbon"
of corals.
Cayo Guillermo, one of the nicest beaches of the Caribbean,
is next to Cayo
Coco, at 20 km from the Jardines del Rey airport located
in Cayo Coco; at 125 km from the Maximo Gomez International
airport in Ciego de Avila which is the central province
of the island of Cuba; at 100 km from the city of Moron
and at only 1 km from the coral reef.
It is located at approximately 500 km from the city of
Havana and 600 km from Santiago de Cuba.
The beaches extend for 27 km and are connected to the island
of Cuba by a 27 km causeway that cuts through the ocean.
